PPPD: An Update on Mechanisms to Inform Treatment
DESCRIPTION
Dizziness and balance problems are very common yet notoriously hard to diagnose and treat effectively resulting in patients with vestibular and balance disorders too often impaired by their symptoms for many years. This webinar will review the chronic functional vestibular disorder of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD) with a particular emphasis on recent findings that may enhance treatment. Results of larger studies of vestibular rehabilitation, medication and psychotherapy as well as investigations of misperception of motion in patients with PPPD have been published recently. These do not yet provide Level One evidence about individualized therapy but point to opportunities to improve treatment.
